Beaches in Cornwall

One of Cornwall’s best aspects is the vast number of beautiful beaches and coves surrounding the stunning countryside. With over 165 beaches in Cornwall, visitors are spoilt for choice, and there is sure to be a suitbale beach to suit everyone. From the fantastic surfing beaches on the North coast, to the tranquil waters of the South coast and everything in between. So here’s a guide to help you get started to find the perfect beach for you.

Cornwall is known for its beautiful beaches, and this is definitely one to visit. We are situated just 1 and a half miles from Crantock beach, which can be reached by walking across Cubert Common. The sand here is soft stretching far and wide. The River Gannel separates Crantock from Newquay and during high tide you can catch a small ferry boat over the water. Just on the other side The Fern Pit boathouse sell the freshest Cornish crab and lobster. The sea is ideal for both swimming and surfing, wetsuit hire is available on the beach.

Crantock Beach is also the ideal place to experience a breath taking Cornish sunset.

The National Trust provides a parking area for easy access to this beach.

Polly Joke, Newquay

Porth Joke or “Polly Joke” beach as it is known by the locals, is tucked away between Holywell and Crantock. This is the smallest of the three beaches around here but is also the most quiet and secluded one. The sand is soft and a small stream runs to the sea. Not many visitors know that this beach is here and that is why it ideal for those times when you wish to spend a whole stress free day at the beach escaping the hustle and bustle.

There are no facilities here so you would need to pack up all your goodies needed for the day.

There is a small car park here that can be accessed from Crantock, or you could walk from our holiday park for 1.3 miles which takes you across Cubert common.

Holywell Bay Beach, Nr Newquay

Holywell Bay is a large, sandy beach with rolling dunes, rock pools and a slow running stream that is a magnet for children in the summer. The rolling dunes that run along the back side of the beach hold many different ecosystems, and children can spend hours looking for the dunes’ inhabitants. Additionally, there is one particular stream that runs through the sandy beach to the ocean that is for those who can’t swim and for small children.

Holywell Bay beach can be reached by walking across our Cubert Common or the car park provided by The National Trust.

The St Piran’s Inn is located on the sandy track leading to this beach – a traditional pub offering freshly prepared food, and fine ales.

Holywell Bay has been voted the 4th best view in Cornwall by the National Trust!

Lusty Glaze, Newquay

Lusty Glaze Beach is a magical place surrounded by spectacular scenery on the north Cornwall coast. Located close to Newquay, this beach ‘village’ is a first-class attraction with a lot going on.

As well as the beautiful sandy cove to explore, you can sample great food at the beach-side restaurant or from the take away facility. Get active on a range of adventure activities, experience fantastic live music and events. Whatever you want to do, we’re sure you will have a memorable experience at Lusty Glaze beach.

A place where the land meets the sea creating a spectacular horse-shoe shaped cove with white sand and clear blue sea. The cove also provides fantastic adventurous activities, from abseiling, surfing, jet skiing to the fast growing sport of Coasteering.

Perranporth Beach, Perranporth

Perranporth, is a popular destination in Cornwall, and when the tide is low the beach here stretches for over 2 miles. There is a natural open air pool which is filled with sea water at high tide and is then warmed by the sun during the day. On a busy day you can walk north towards Penhale to find a quieter spot. Perranporth is also the beach for surfing.

There is The Watering Hole Pub which is situated on the beach and serves food and drink all day. Car parking is also provided on the beachside.

The local town has all the shops you need for a beachy day out, there are lots of places to eat, traditional Cornish Ice Cream parlours, and your good old bucket & spade shops too.
